London/Frankfurt

Ok gang - here's a few pics (as promised) of my London/Frankfurt Trend Shopping and Ambiente Trip. I've written a report, but I won't bore you! Here are just a few observations and visuals:

Baroque influences are still in shop windows, although it seems as though the focus is shifting to organic shapes and less "laser cut" type precision graphics, patterns and shapes.

White, neutrals, blacks and browns are often accented with organic elements, like shells or twigs. White is big in dinnerware

Shades of green are still big and are accented with blues (particularly turquoise) and purples.
Purple is ranking up to green and ranges from raspberry to plum.

Shapes are soft edged geometric forms, with a nostalgic (almost retro) feel.

Materials are high quality and many items are shinny or reflective.

See you next week!

I'm "Outtie" this week.. off to London and Frankfurt for some trend shopping and Ambiente, an international housewares show. I'm excited, it's always great to travel and see the effects of design outside of the Northeast. Most likely it will be a bit of visual overload, but when I get back I'll process everything and let you all know what I found. Hopefully I will be able to post over the week as well, giving you the play by play.

Eira, Sao Miguel, Azores

My dad, brother and aunt are off to Portugal again next week. There are a few more things to do at the house there. Hopefully I will be visiting next summer to see my fathers vision in full action. Even my mom is now shopping for items for Eira, instead of the house in RI. Here's a few pics of their trip last year.

I finally did It!

So, I've been in love with blogging' for a while now and I'm so excited that I finally buckled down and made "Design it, Make it"... My very own Blog! Here's to lots of posts, unique and awesome designs and one of a kind artworks and experiences.
